Camp Jojo is celebrating after being awarded £5,000 of funding from The Country Land and Business Association (CLA) Charitable Trust to support its work to providing fully adapted and inclusive camping experiences for families of children with complex and life‑limiting needs.
The funds will contribute to the overall costs of the marquee (£16k) at our new Cumbria campsite, Nags Head Farm. We have also received further donations from The Appleby and Upper Eden Rotary Clubs towards the total cost. This will provide a much-needed community space for activities, socialising and eating together for all the families and volunteers involved.
Cam Jojo has been working to support children with complex needs and their families since 2018 creating a place where family experiences with children who have complex needs could be a restful and fun for the whole family.
The funding from the CLA Charitable Trust, which works to enable disadvantaged or disabled people to participate in learning experiences about the countryside will significantly contribute to the development of our newest campsite in Cumbria which opens for its first summer, welcoming families from July 2026.
Christine Wright, chair of Trustees of Camp Jojo says “We’re grateful that the CLA Charitable Trust has recognised the work of our organisation in this way. Their support will allow us to extend our reach and host exceptional accessible experiences for even more families who are carrying the burden of care for their complex needs' children every day.”
