On May 22nd, an Awareness Raising Evening was held at Ivy Farm, the first event we have been able to hold due to the pandemic. The event was held outside, in our splendid new marquee, which has been so generously paid for by Colchester Catalyst and the CLA, and all agreed that it made a great venue.
We were of courses limited to 30 guests, all of whom took a Covid test before they arrived, and the tables were arranged to provide for social distancing. The brilliant musicians had their own gazebo to perform in, and the volunteer caterers did a marvellous job of serving the truly delicious food.
Everyone reported that they had thoroughly enjoyed the evening- and who would not – a three course meal, including drinks, the superbly decorated marquee, music, games and a raffle. The evening raised over £750 for Camp Jojo, and also, thanks to a presentation by some of the Trustees, gave a selected group of Mersea residents an idea of Camp Jojo’s work. We very much hope that the guests will spread the word on the island, and become supporters or volunteers in the future.
