At Camp Jojo we are all so excited that three camps will be taking place this August, and that nearly 100 people will be enjoying the Camp Jojo experience!
But none of this would be happening without the incredibly generous support of so many individuals and groups, so we would like to give a brief update, and to say some very big thank-yous to lots of wonderful people.
To Colchester Catalyst, who have enabled us to buy 5 Prospector tents for families, to equip two of them with specially designed gantries for electric hoists, and to part- fund the conversion of a bathroom to a fully accessible one, with ceiling track hoist, electric changing table and heater. Colchester Catalyst’s support meant that the Victoria Foundation were willing to match-fund for us, and paid for half the cost of the bathroom conversion.
Essex’s own “Grassroots” have paid for enough self-inflating sleeping mats to give all our campers a good night’s sleep!
We are so grateful for the generous support of Mersea Homes: not only have they paid for our sixth Prospector tent, but they have provided the building materials we needed to build a wheelchair accessible ramp from the field to the toilet and shower.
The East of England Co-op have also generously donated, via their Community Fund, to help buy enough sleeping bags for those families and volunteer who do not have their own.
We are also grateful to Colchester Forum Rotary Club, and to Mersea Island Rotary Club, who have donated both funds and camping equipment. We are also really grateful to Mersea Lions, who are kindly lending us their marquee, which will be our dining room for the camps!
We are particularly grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund: their generous grant has helped us to afford not only essential equipment, but has helped us to pay so many of our running costs: insurance, training, provision of activities etc.
Finally there are too many people to mention by name, but so many individuals have helped us so much... Individuals who are making regular donations, who have given us equipment, who have given up their time to help, and who have made financial donations to buy particular pieces of equipment, or sponsor families to come: we couldn’t have done it without your generosity!!
